Acupuncture and professional sport.

I enjoyed watching the Olympic Games and I wonder if Acupuncture is used in sports?

Yes, more then you can imagine. A number of NHL stars use acupuncture like Dmitri Kristich, a left wing with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who made his recovery from a lingering injury through acupuncture.
Acupuncture has many applications for recovery from sports injuries. It is also very helpful for quick rehabilitation after stressful tournaments, conditioning during training and general drug-free health management of athletes who are very limited by "doping control" in the choice of medications they are allowed to take. Even innocent medicines such as nasal spray for the common cold may contain ingredients that are on the list of banned drugs, and may cost a champion his or her medal. It happened several years ago, when a simple non-prescription flu medicine prescribed for an athlete contained a forbidden ingredient for competitors.
The benefits of acupuncture in sports performance were recognized at first by Oriental teams, and rapid advances in the success of Chinese athletes are in great degree attributed to the use of acupuncture and alternative medicine.
You don't have to be an Olympic class athlete to benefit from acupuncture. If you play golf or tennis,or if you enjoy fitness, acupuncture will help you to increase your stamina, flexibility, will free you from aches and improve your performance. It is proven to be effective for many conditions: tennis elbow, back and shoulder pain, fatigue, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, to name just a few.
