A few of the many myths we commonly hear.

 

Myth:
Acupuncture hurts a lot.

Truth:
   Not more than a mosquito bite.
 

Myth:
I will bleed from the needles.

Truth:
   No, you will not.
 

Myth:
I will look like a porcupine.

Truth:
   Only for 20 minutes and we don't charge extra for relatives to observe you.
 

Myth:
Acupuncture is not covered by insurance.

Truth:
   RI Blue Cross/Blue Shield covers acupunctureAs of April 2000, all insurance companies must offer optional coverage for acupuncture. Check with your individual provider.
 

Myth:
Acupuncture is a sort of religion.

Truth:
   It is a science and not a religion. Patients must be objective, not believers.
