Green Tea.

Question:
Q. I have heard so much about Green Tea. Is it really so good?

Answer:
The Chinese have known about the health benefits of tea since ancient times.
Green tea has higher values of medicinal properties than other teas, such as black tea, because of the special way it is dried. Green tea is prepared from fresh, unfermented tealeaves. This traditional drying technique protects the tea from the negative effects of fermentation.
Green tea contains a large quantity of special chemicals called edcatechin polyphenols - powerful antioxidants, which contribute to longevity. They destroy free radicals, which are blamed to be responsible for aging and degenerative diseases. Green tea also contains other components, such as polysaccharides, flavonoids, vitamin B complex, vitamins C, E, D, and K to name a few. In fact, there is more vitamin C in one cup of green tea than in an orange.
Here are the health advantages of drinking green tea:
∑ Slows the aging process by way of antioxidant properties.
∑ Helps to lower cholesterol. Green tea may inhibit oxidation of "bad" cholesterol (LDL).
∑ Controls high blood pressure. Despite the fact that green tea contains caffeine, it reduces high blood pressure by inhibiting the formation of certain enzymes that cause constriction of blood vessels.
∑ Lowers blood sugar levels which can aid in the treatment of diabetes.
∑ Maintains healthy teeth and gums. Green tea is particularly rich in fluoride. It also has strong antibacterial effects.
   ∑ Helps relieve constipation.
∑ Aids in weight loss, promotes fat thermogenesis (calorie burning) and slows carbohydrate digestion.
∑ There are claims that green tea helps to prevent cancer, mainly through its significant antioxidant properties.
Speaking of the side-effects of drinking green tea: it is difficult to keep your teeth white.
If you donít like the taste of green tea, drink regular tea. It is also beneficial.
